Learning Without Limits
STE(A)M Truck is designed to help eliminate inequities in local systems and catalyze transformation across education. Through mobile innovation labs designed to pull youth, and their educators, out of their comfort zones and give them the opportunity to engage, create and learn using STEAM-driven curriculum and real tools and technologies.
The Challenge
The research is clear. Access to hands-on building, tinkering, and experiential learning-based curriculum can increase access to STEM careers and build the skills critical for long-term success. However, many of the tools, expertise, and time needed to utilize these types of strategies are often unavailable in public schools, and especially so in public schools serving low-income communities.
Our Approach
STE(A)M Truck provides an innovative approach to learning by providing students with access to STEAM-based experiences in communities where they donāt often exist. Whether it be through one of our STE(A)M Truck youth engagement programs or educator Professional Learning Experiences, we provide youth and their educators with access relevant, career connected STEAM engagement through the use of real tools and technology.
News & Updates
At STE(A)M Truck, we believe that hands-on learning builds community, collaboration, and creativity. One of the most powerful examples of this in our curriculum is the Geodesic Dome build. Initially starting with simple materials like straws and pipe cleaners, this project has evolved to incorporate robust tubing and 3D-printed connectors, offering students a more realistic view of construction techniques. This activity gives students the opportunity to apply critical math and engineering concepts while working as a team to construct their very own geodesic dome. Through this project, students learn geometry while experiencing the impact of design, problem-solving, and the strength of the community working together.
